The Unit 7 photography project is to make a booklet out of our own photos. At this stage, I made a booklet that was of the same theme: culture. I took pictures from trip week going to Oxford, Margate, London and even staying in Cambridge. I didn’t like taking pictures on my phone when I was younger.
I took them in my camera. I didn’t bring the hard disk with me so I looked through my photos in my phone and I found some pictures in them. They were already edited because I uploaded some of them on my Instagram. I took the photos and imported them to the computer. I’m so thankful for airdrop and iCloud. Without it, everyday would be a struggle as I don’t always bring a pen drive with me.
Making the booklet in the lesson was fairly easy as all of us were given a handout to follow. In the handout contained all the details and hacks to make the booklet and how we put the pictures in InDesign. I liked doing this. It felt therapeutic but when we were about to print, I was about to pull my hairs out because I didn’t know the settings but later on my tutor helped me through the process. I didn’t know what he was clicking and was baffled but it printed. The printer took so long to print and I had to be somewhere for lunch so I asked Ting to help me collect my printed booklet while I went out. She told me she would but she didn’t so I collected it myself. When I got to the printer, some of my pictures were printed halfway so I didn’t paste it on the sketchbook. I wanted to reprint it but there was a class going on. By the time I went back to go print again when the class was over, the file was deleted. I did however take a screenshot of my work so in a way it wasn’t a total loss.
I liked the way I presented it and I also liked my photos but something didn’t sit right with me when I used my own photos in my phone. It felt like I was cheating. Overall, the class was very useful. I will learn how to print my own booklet when I have the time to sit down and learn about it. I will do justice and make the booklet better
